This list is by no means all-encompassing as there truly are limitless photo spots all over London. That being said, it will definitely send you well on your way to snapping the perfect shots for your Instagram feed, all while guiding you through some of the best parts of London! Save these five most instagrammable locations for your next trip to London.
1. Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill
Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill is one of the world’s largest antique markets. It’s famous for antique items and collectibles, but what I find myself coming back to Portobello Road Market for time after time again is not the shopping, but the vibrant streets that surround it. Notting Hill is one of London’s high-end, residential neighborhoods and has some of the most colorful streets you will find in all of London.
I recommend setting aside a late weekday morning during your stay in London to explore all that Notting Hill has to offer.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an umbrella - it has rained every single time I’ve visited this part of London! Allow yourself to get a little lost - this is always my favorite part - and stumble upon photogenic houses and walls. Have your camera ready at all times here, as you are likely to find multiple Instagram photo opportunities all throughout the market and Notting Hill. End your adventures with an English beer from one of London’s most well-known pubs, The Churchill Arms (pictured right).
2. Top of the Shard
Unlike the others on this list, the Top of the Shard does have an entrance fee (approximately 30 GBP), but it is WELL worth it. The Top of the Shard features unbeatable, panoramic views of all of London. I recommend taking the lift to the Top of The Shard at golden hour, the hour right before sunset, and staying until dusk. Seeing a sunset from up above the city is an experience like no other. There is also a bar at the top which makes it the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and unwind.
3. Peggy Porschen Cakes
For this one, I recommend coming on an empty stomach! Be prepared to try some of the best cupcakes, cakes, and specialty teas you have ever had at Peggy Porschen Cakes. Although this location is definitely no secret to both London residents and tourists, it is definitely worth a visit, both for the sweets and for the photo opportunities.
I would recommend visiting Peggy Porschen Cakes on a weekday morning or mid-to-late afternoon, if possible. There is oftentimes a long line and it is best to visit during off-peak hours for the shortest wait times and least crowded photo opportunities. You will love taking Insta-worthy photos here of both yourself and the desserts!
4. Queen Mary’s Rose Garden at Regent Park
The Queen Mary’s Rose Garden at Regent’s Park in London is absolutely breathtaking. To see the roses in peak bloom, I recommend visiting during the first two weeks of June. Regardless of whether or not the roses are in bloom during your visit, you will experience green, lush scenery as you stroll through these gardens. Regent’s Park is so peaceful and is a lovely place to take a walk through at any time of day, rain or shine. After taking photos in the rose garden, I love sipping on an afternoon tea at a local cafe as I review my photos from the day.
5. Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden
If you love colorful, eclectic architecture and hole-in-the-wall shops, Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden is for you. Although Covent Garden is a very popular shopping area in London, Neal’s Yard is tucked away and located off the beaten path. Unless you have visited Neal’s Yard before or have it plugged into your GPS to show you exactly where it is, it’s unlikely you will stumble upon it on your own. I recommend saving directions to Neal’s Yard on your phone ahead of time to easily find this hidden gem. Get ready to take some trendy selfies and also some landscape photos at Neal’s Yard. Afterward, I definitely recommend continuing to explore Covent Garden for some of the best restaurants and shopping in the area!
